811: Call Before You Dig

Call Before You Dig!

Pipeline accidents often happen when people are unaware of the location of the pipeline or other utilities before starting their work. To help prevent these accidents, it’s important to always contact 811 before you dig. This applies to both homeowners and professional excavators. By calling 811, you can initiate the process to have underground pipelines and utilities marked at no cost. Whether you’re planting a new tree in your backyard or starting a major project near a pipeline right-of-way, always call 811 before you dig.

Report Your Digging Project by Phone or Online!

When you call 811 from anywhere in the country, your call will be routed to your state’s One-Call Center. State laws vary, but generally utility companies have a few days to respond to your request by marking your business or property with paint and/or flags. If you prefer to go online to report your digging plan, visit call811.com.

After Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline has marked our facilities with paint and/or flags, a Southern Star Representative must be onsite prior to excavation. This will ensure that the encroaching party meets our company standards. In the event of noncompliance with our standards, a Southern Star representative has the responsibility and authority to stop work that jeopardizes our pipeline or facilities.
