Giving Back to Our Communities
Southern Star Cares is a non-profit organization with a mission to broaden charitable outreach by donating to diverse organizations across Southern Star’s footprint. Our values include philanthropy, community, compassion, kindness, responsibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.
All funds raised by Southern Star Cares go to grant recipients, with no administrative fees or deductions.
The 2026 Southern Star Cares grant process will kick off in August.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be a tax exempt, 501(c)3 organization.
- Southern Star Cares grant recipients will only be eligible to
reapply one year after receiving the previous grant.

Southern Star Cares is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed by Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc.
To lead the way in enhancing the quality of life for Southern Star families and communities.
The organization is led by a board of directors who are all Southern Star team members.
For Kansas, Missouri, Wyoming and Oklahoma:
Southern Star Cares donors submit nominations for nonprofit organizations in their communities. Nonprofits will be asked to provide a brief overview of their project request including information about the organization, its ability to complete the project, expected financial need, how many granted funds will be distributed and how those served might benefit.
For Kentucky:
Applications will be submitted electronically and your organization must serve Daviess County, KY. A link will be provided here once the application window opens.
To apply for this grant, you will be asked to provide a brief overview of your project request including information about the organization, its ability to complete the project, expected financial need, how any granted funds will be distributed and how those served might benefit.
Grants must be for project-based requests. A few notable exclusions that are NOT accepted include scholarships, sponsorships and an organization’s operating costs.
Southern Star Cares will work individually with each grant recipient to establish a timeline and terms for fund disbursement.
Grant recipients are chosen based on the information provided on their applications, a review by the Southern Star Cares Board of Directors, a review from Southern Star team member focus groups or district representatives, and a vote from Southern Star team member donors who have contributed to the Southern Star Cares fundraising campaign.
100% of all pledged donations from Southern Star team members goes directly to funding non-profit programs.
