Giving Back to Our Communities

Southern Star Cares is a non-profit organization with a mission to broaden charitable outreach by donating to diverse organizations across Southern Star’s footprint.  Our values include philanthropy, community, compassion, kindness, responsibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.

All funds raised by Southern Star Cares go to grant recipients, with no administrative fees or deductions.

The 2026 Southern Star Cares grant process will kick off in August.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be a tax exempt, 501(c)3 organization.
  • Applicants must serve Daviess County, KY
  • Southern Star Cares grant recipients will only be eligible to
    reapply one year after receiving the previous grant.

Application Process

To apply for this grant, you will be asked to provide a brief overview of your project request including information about the organization, its ability to complete the project, expected financial need, how any granted funds will be distributed and how those served might benefit.

Applications must be for project-based grants. A few notable exclusions that are NOT accepted include scholarships, sponsorships and an organization’s operating costs.

Applications must be submitted electronically. The 2026 grant application process opened in August. A link will be provided once the application window opens.

Once applications are reviewed, grant finalists will be notified, and grant winners will be selected and announced in December 2026.
